Makapuu Tide Pools

It's officially summer...
First thing on our list: Makapuu Tide Pools. Of all the times we've hiked to the lighthouse and been to Makapuu, Sandy's, and AD's, we've never ventured to the pools.
Under the blazing sun, Shasta and I exited the main trail onto a side path right after the humpback whale sign. It wasn't a very pronounced path but with the tide pools in view we knew where we were headed. Filled with loose gravel and rocks, the slippery path seemed long and dangerous but in actuality if you take your time it's rather easy. We made our way down in about 20 minutes.
Needless to say our afternoon was very serene and relaxing.
After a couple of hours we left to the top. We followed the spray painted arrows and dots up. Out of breath and sweating profusely, I was relieved to be back on the main trail. Shasta, looking to put on her sun glasses, realized that she left her favorite $300 Dior pair at the tide pools. You're kidding me right?! Nope. She wasn't joking so we descended back downThere. They. Were. I grabbed the Dior's and we trekked back up for the second time.
A few days later Shasta commented that she can't wait to go back to the pools in which I responded, "As long as you don't forget ANYTHING!"
